The Domen/Marcu Foundation’s Impact: Cardinal Softball

We reached out to Haley Adams, the Cardinal Softball Coach to get her perspective on the impact donations from the Domen/Marcu Foundation have had on her team.

What was the donation made by the Domen/Marcu Foundation for the Cardinal Softball program used for?

"The Domen/Marcu Foundation’s donation helped fund new tanner tees for our softball program. We were able to secure four new tees which will help our program stay up-to-date on training and practice. These tees are super durable, and will be available for many softball players to come. With proper equipment, we can help teach and practice fundamentals for not just our Varsity program but for the future of our JV and Freshman teams as well."

What would it have meant if the Cardinal Softball program did not receive a donation?

"What people don't see is that our equipment has been very outdated for the softball program and it can be hard to produce successful teams when we don't have the proper equipment to use. With many donations, our softball facilities and equipment have gone from one of the worst in the area to one of the very best. Our athletes need equipment that will be reliable and where we don't just have one softball tee that has to be rotated through 15+ girls. Now, we can have groups of three or four and have them rotate through each station of drills. This would not be possible without the purchase of new tanner tees."

What does the Domen/Marcu Foundation’s involvement mean to you as a coach, team, and program?

"Being a graduate of Cardinal High School and being a four-year letterwinner, we did not always have the funds to purchase items like our athletes do now. It is amazing to see how beautiful our facilities and equipment have been as of late. I'm grateful that Jimmy Soltis took a chance on me as a young woman at the age of 22 to take over the softball program at Cardinal High School. I had a lot of visions that I saw in the program and the girls. With the help of many, many donors, both new and old, they are providing our girls with a chance to perform at their very best. There is a lot of potential for the softball program for years to come and I want every one of the girls that come through the halls to have that same opportunity. I am a firm believer of giving back to our community and I hope to continue to do that for many years. Thank you so much!"
